PROJECTS/CONFERENCES/ORGANIZATIONS

BGSU'S THE HATCH
Entrepreneurship
8 BGSU Students are selected among 18,000 students to pitch their business idea to Falcon Investors in front of 3,500 people. Out of the 8 BGSU students I was one of the 6 funded with a 15,000 investment towards my product.

CAPSTONE PROJECT
Implementation of a Community Garden to Help Combat Food Insecurity on College Campuses
In my Food and Nutrition Senior Seminar class, the course of semester was dedicated to the research and implications of our capstone. A capstone project is designed for each student to research a topic of their choice on a problem that they have seen throughout their community. Megan, my partner, and I wanted to help combat food insecurity among college campuses with the implementation of a community garden. Click on the menu bar above to view my capstone project in detail.

MOCK GRANT PROPOSAL
Knowledge of Writing Grants
In my Food and Nutrition Research Methods class, my professor divided the class into random groups. In our group we brainstormed issues that we would like to write a grant about. My group decided to write a grant to get funding for a community garden to help reduce food insecurity. We took the course of the semester to write the grants, where each group learned to work together as a team. At the end of the semester we sat in on panels and reviewed each grant to see which one we wanted to fund. In the end my grant was one that won. Writing this grant inspired me to do my capstone project on combating food insecurity with community gardens.

FNCE (FOOD AND NUTRITION CONFERENCE/EXPO)
Education
Every year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors a conference for dietetic and nutrition/health professionals. I attended FNCE in October of 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. FNCE is a great resource to network with dietitians, researchers, and other health professionals from all over the country. FNCE is also an awesome educational resource with keeping dietetic professionals up to date with health issue, policies, research, and the latest science behind nutrition.

DANCE MARATHON
Community Outreach Committee
Dance Marathon is an organization at Bowling Green State Univeristy that helps raise money for sick children at our local Children Miracle Network Hospital. I have been a member of Dance Marathon from 2016-2018. In 2018 I had the pleasure of being apart of the Community Outreach Committee. This committee was responsible for all the sponsors who had sponsored the event in April of 2018. We also went to local Bowling Green businesses asking for donations.
